The Matanuska Valley offers year-round lake fishing, from summer casting to winter ice fishing. Many lakes are regularly stocked with salmon, trout, char, and grayling. Other lakes have natural northern pike populations. Peak seasons vary by species, with excellent pike fishing in May and highly active trout fishing in late fall. Because regulations frequently change, always review the rules for the Upper Cook Inlet on the Alaska Department of Fish and Game website before heading out.
